Services Provided To Our Patients

Consultation/History

In training to become a Doctor of Chiropractic, I learned that 80 to 90 percent of the information needed to make an accurate diagnosis of your problem, is gained by taking a good detailed history. Exceptional communication skills and a genuine interest in people are vital.

When you come to my office, you will be asked many pertinent questions regarding the problems you have been experiencing, remedies you may have already tried, and how it is affecting your life. If you have any diagnostics, such as x-rays, nerve tests or MRI’s performed in another doctor’s office, these images and findings will be requested and reviewed.

You will also be encouraged to ask any questions you may have regarding our services, policies and procedures.

Physical Examination

If the conditions described in the history sound like they are within my expertise to evaluate and treat, you will have a physical examination. There are many different exam procedures, depending on your history as well as examination findings. Your vitals will be taken. In addition, some or all of the following may be performed: Ranges of motion, reflexes, sensation, strength, posture, balance, gait, specific neurologic and orthopedic tests and more. Your extremities may also be evaluated.

As a chiropractor, I specialize in palpating and detecting joints that have become tight, restricted and/or painful. I will explain the examination findings as we go, to give you a better understanding of your problem. My patients really appreciate this. In addition, as part of a comprehensive treatment plan, periodic re-examinations will be performed to measure your progress, and determine the need for further treatments.

X-Ray Procedures

If your examination indicates a need for an x-ray, you will not have to go to an imaging center or hospital. We have an on-site Universal High Frequency x-ray facility. High Frequency is the fastest, safest and most detailed x-ray available. We also process your x-rays on-site. In addition, your x-rays will be explained to you on the same or a subsequent visit.

Comprehensive Treatment Planning

You will have the diagnosis of your problems fully explained to you, as well as the recommended action plan. You may be referred to another health care provider if your conditions require diagnostics and/or interventions outside of the conservative chiropractic scope of practice. Your chiropractic recommended action plan may include any or all of the following services:

Specific Chiropractic Adjustments

Many standard chiropractic techniques for making corrections may be utilized including; Diversifed Adjustments, Drop Table, Pelvic Blocking, Activator, Biomechanics and Gonstead. Adjustments may be performed on extremities as well, including ankles, wrists, knees and shoulders.

Vertebral Distraction Pump

This technique is a specialty in my office for reducing disc herniations, decompressing degenerative discs and relieving facet syndrome. You may learn more about it with a link on the Home Page.

Physiotherapy

A number of therapies are available at Anderson Chiropractic. They may be utilized in conjunction with corrective adjustments to help reduce pain and spasm, relax the back, and help the soft-tissues heal more quickly. The therapies include: Electrical muscle stimulation, TENS therapy, hydrocollator heat packs, cryotherapy ice packs, intersegmental traction and the Human Touch Technology massage chair.

Exercise Rehabilitation

We have found that once most conditions are past the acute phase, it is very helpful to start and regularly perform rehabilitative exercises. These help improve ranges of motion, balance and core strength. The focus in this office is with progressive resistance neck region exercises, as well as Fit-ball exercises. Performed regularly, the results are very good.

Orthotic Stabilizers

Many of our patients’ back problems can be traced down to feet that don’t hit the ground quite right. For example, a flat or pronated foot and ankle can twist the knee, tilt the pelvis and low back and cause it to weaken and wear out prematurely. We recommend and provide custom fitted stabilizers for your feet. Patient satisfaction with these is very high. Most eventually order custom shoe-thotics and sandal-thotics, and love they way they feel. You may visit the companies websites that we send our custom orders to; www.theorthoticgroup.com and www.footlevelers.com

Nutrition and Wellness Products

There are a few helpful products that we provide as a convenience to you. We can order the top whole food supplement called Juice Plus for you, and service your account. In addition, we have a popular herbal pain reliever called Formula 303, as well as a nice analgesic pain-relief gel called Biofreeze available. Custom pillows have become more popular. We can measure you and custom order the Exclusively Yours pillow made by Foot Levelers. Home Ice Packs are available. We provide a 10 by 15 inch re-usable soft pack that you can store in your freezer. You can even heat it up in the microwave for some nice heat therapy as well. We may make some additional recommendations for supplements and products available from other sources.

The health and wellness world is always improving. As new testing and research becomes available, we strive to stay on top of things and get that information to our patients through our Weekly Health Updates, and monthly newsletter.
